Double knit mittens completed!

A while ago, I updated you on my progress on my double knit mittens…. I worked on them diligently over the holiday season, and they’re done! (I actually finished them a couple of weeks ago, but I didn’t remember to write about them until I needed to wear them out in the snow).

They are make with dk weight alpaca, and a lovely natural brown on one side, and white alpaca that I dyed with kool aid to a sky-blue color. I’m quite pleased with the star motif that decorates them… with double knitting, you can switch colors without worrying about the length of the stranding, so you can make designs that would ordinarily require intarsia. Exciting!

With winter (hopefully) headed on its way out, my goal is to have the pattern written up for next winter. They were a blast to knit!
