Last week, I held a vote on this blog to determine what color my Color Affection Shawl would be.
And the winner was…
Lime and grey!
I was SO thrilled to cast on!
I’m bucking tradition a little bit, and using three different kinds of yarns, although they’re all (approximately) the same weight. My guiding light was color… and I bought whatever gave me the color combo I desired!
Ash Grey
My first color is a very light ash grey in Shibui Alpaca… I’ve already completed the first section:
I’m just in love with this color! It looks lighter in person… it’s always hard to get amazing colors to look right on camera, isn’t it?
Lime Green
The second color I’m using is Lemon Lime in Yummy Fingering by Candy Skein. I ordered it just the other day, and it’s in the mail!
It’s the most amazing color of bright lime green… it’s the same yarn that I used for my Haruni:
I can’t wait until it arrives!
Charcoal
The third color is a deep charcoal color of Heritage Silk (Cascade). It’s pleasant and soft… but most importantly, the right color!
The Knitting
I’m a huge fan of Veera… I think her designs are so clever and well-written. I’ve knit a couple Stripe Study Shawls, and I relished every minute of knitting… because there was always a short-row to keep me entertained.
The downside of the Stripe Study, though, is that it’s so asymmetrical, that it can be a challenge to wear. I usually end up wearing a pin. (totally worth it, just not ideal)
So far, Color Affection is a bit less engaging of a knit… the short rows don’t begin until the third section. However, I think the end result will be much more wearable… I’ll keep you posted!
That’s what I’ve been up to this week… how about you? Anything exciting? I hope you have an awesome Wednesday, and get some great knitting/crocheting done this week!

I just got the yarn I’ve been waiting for to crack on with my second Color Affection Shawl. I can’t wait to get started as I love my first one so much.
Great colour combo! I’m thinking of doing a Color Affection as my Ravelympics project this year. I haven’t decided on colours yet though. Right now I’m working on a Stripe Study shawl for my Mom. Those short-rows have been keeping me entertained too!
Hm, I’m wondering if I should make one for my mom. She loved the one I made her in bulky yarn but asked for something a little lighter and a little longer for days that aren’t cold enough for a bulky shawl.
Mostly, I want an excuse to knit more things with short rows. :P
The lime green yarn is incredible!
It is such a challenge to capture pretty yarn on camera! I need a book on how to photograph yarn, that would be perfect. I love the color combination (although I loved all of the options). Shibui yarn is such a joy to work with.
Ohh I wanna eat that green color ! It looks SO yummy.
I am looking forward to see this finished, i’m sure it’s going to be just awesome :)
Can’t wait to see it…these are all over now and I’m considering it…
