What do you do when you don’t have double point needles in the size the pattern calls for? If you happen to have them, you can use two circular needles to do the job of a set of double point needles!
I knitted my Persephone slouchy beret on a 16″ size 5 circular, but didn’t have size 5 double points to do the decreases. Fortunately, since I had a second size 5 circular (which I use to make my two at a time worsted weight socks), I could use it to finish the decreases!
If you haven’t tried knitting in the round on two circular needles, knittinghelp.com has a great video that you can watch. Being flexible in your techniques allows you to limit the number of new needles you need to purchase!
