Are you ready for this tiny owl?

Today is an exciting day… because I’ve released my newest pattern: Nel the Tiny Owl!

I’m excited not just because I think this little guy is cute… but every photo that’s come back from my testers is stinkin’ adorable! And I have a strong suspicion that once you get this pattern… you won’t be able to make only one!

How the design began…

If you follow this blog, you’ll know that Nelson the Owl is my most popular pattern. He’s on my logo, and I’m constantly crocheting one as a custom order. So obviously, in my house, we love Nelson.

A year ago (on 11/11/11!), Tim and I got married in a very low-key ceremony… we’re not really the fancy types. So, our wedding cake had to be similarly low-key, but still fun.

Small Nelsons seemed just perfect!

I didn’t plan on making a pattern… I just wanted some little owls!

But everyone loved them!

I had no idea so many people would fall in love with my tiny owls… and it just didn’t seem right to keep the instructions to myself!

So, I put ‘make tiny owl pattern’ on my to-do list, and now it’s ready for action! I’m sure you already know this, but making a pattern is a big to-do. It includes: making a new sample (taking progress photos at every step of the way), formatting, technical editing and sending the pattern out for testing. I can’t just take some owls that I’ve made (without documenting the steps) and send the pattern out into the world!

Nel likes hanging out with his ‘original’ cousins:

He’s slightly different… you can read about the tweaks I made in this blog post.

He looks great in every color!

So… I said that the tester’s photos are amazing… I bet you want proof, right?

Renee crocheted Nel in his ‘classic’ color:

Hollie made hers in an adorable pink:

Adorable, right?

And check out this AMAZING shot by Adriana:

Looks fabulous in any color!

Which color will your Nel be?

I can’t wait to see lots of new tiny owls coming into the world!

First, grab your tiny owl pattern:

purchase crochet pattern

Then, pick 2 colors of yarn, plus an eye circle color and a beak/feet color.

Next… get crocheting! Be sure to post your progress photos on Ravelry and share your finished owl photos either by posting on facebook or emailing me!
