About FreshStitches

The idea for FreshStitches began in 2008 when crochet designer, Stacey Trock, noticed a distinct lack of patterns for big and cuddly stuffed animals. A handful of adorable designs later- FreshStitches was born! Since then, FreshStitches patterns have become legendary for their cuteness, detailed instructions and step-by-step photos. Using the abundance of help and information in the patterns, numerous crocheters have crocheted a FreshStitches animal as their first crochet project! ...more

Some of my favorite finished objects…

On Finished Object Friday, I typically show you what I’ve finished that week. The finishing week is the brightest spot in a handmade item’s life: it’s fresh and looks fabulous. But over time, a knitted item falls into one of two categories: it either becomes a well-wearing favorite, or a worn-out looking tragedy. Today, I’m going to show you a few of my favorite knitted items that have stood the test of time.

Tim’s double-knit binary scarf

I knit this scarf over 2 years ago for Tim. It’s double knit (so it’s reversible) and spells out ‘I Love You’ in binary. I left one end of the double knit fabric open, so Tim can pull the tail of the scarf through, and not have to worry about tying it. He wears it every day during the cold months and loves it!

Cotton Tank Top

I knit this tank top (over 2 years ago!) from some cotton yarn from a thrift store sweater. It’s one of my favorite tank tops: pretty and comfortable. It’s getting a bit dingy (not the yarn’s fault… it’s because I can’t be trusted with white!), so I think I might knit myself another!

Clapotis

Come on, who doesn’t love a clapotis? Mine turned out quite long, but I still adore wearing it on chilly days. Besides, it’s in my favorite color!

Japanese Feather and Fan Shawl

I adore this shawl and I get compliments on it every time I wear it! And trust me, I wear it often! Despite all of it’s use, it’s still looking great.

Ruffle Skirt

I knitted this skirt, frankly, because I wanted to use the 1100 yards of organic cotton that I frogged from a failed sweater. I thought it would just be a fun project… but I end up wearing this skirt all the time! Love it!

I don’t have a whole lot of projects that have yet to fall into the “well-loved” category, but I hope maybe someday it will happen!

I can definitely see why the projects you shared today are well-loved. They’re all gorgeous, and the scarf is fantastic. :) Is there a pattern for it somewhere?!

Wow I love that shawl! I like the scarf too. I bet my boyfriend would like it… I’ve never done double knitting. Would that be a good introductory project?

I think I would do one double-knitting project before doing detailed colorwork… just so you can get a handle on how the stitches work. Then, it’d totally be a great project!

I can see why they are your favourites. Have a nice weekend.
