Slugs and contest winners, oh my!

This week, I’ve been all about the slugs!

Here are a few cuties I’ve finished:

Giant amigurumi crochet slug

I crocheted this giant guy (he’s 8″ tall!) by holding together 4 strands of Sheep(ish) and using a size N hook. Check out his Ravelry page for more details.

Rainbow crochet slug

I crocheted this sorta giant guy by from a bulky-weight Noro yarn and with a size K hook. Check out his Ravelry page for more details.

Yellow crochet banana slug

This last guy is the model… worsted weight yarn and a size H hook!

Thanks for stopping by and reading!

If you want to see more great finished items… make sure to visit Tami’s Amis blog, the organizer of this great FO Friday theme!

I hope you have an awesome and craft-filled weekend! I’ve been very inspired by my giant slug… and I want to make another *huge* amigurumi.

Hmm… which one should it be?

January Photo Contest Winner!

Underwater amigurumi scene

The winner this month is Carla, with her beautiful underwater amigurumi scene! The scene features Ivo the seahorse, Jack the hermit crab and Frankie the lobster!

A big ‘hip hip hooray’ for our February sponsors!

I want to send a huge hug to two fabulous companies that are sponsoring our lovely tutorial posts for the month of February! February always makes me think of love (you know, Valentine’s Day and all…), so I think it’s totally fitting that the two folks I’m going to introduce you to make luscious products… perfect for showing yourself some love!

Be Sweet

Be Sweet makes beautiful and amazing yarn. And as if that isn’t enough, their mission is to make the yarns in an environmentally manner, while bringing job opportunities to women in economically depressed regions. Can you think of anything more awesome?

Be sweet bubble yarn

Be Sweet’s yarn line ranges from the fantastic (like the Bubble Ball pictured above) to the sublime (like the velvety handspun merino). If you’ve walked into a yarn store and nearly passed-out over a magical ball of beaded-soft-goodness, you’ve probably held a Be Sweet creation.

Be Sweet fluffy nubs

Did you know that Be Sweet also designs beautiful patterns? The patterns are as varied as their yarn line, ranging from the simple (but irresistible) to the extravagant. Be sure to have a look at the entire line!

Want to treat yourself this month? Pick up a lovely skein and then pop over to their facebook page and let them know that you’re planning something divine!

Lavishea

As crocheters and knitters, we work with our hands a lot. And let’s be honest: winter can be hard and drying on the skin. For smooth hands that don’t snag on your lovely yarn, how about a delicious lotion bar?

Lavishea lotion bar

Lavishea Lotion Bars are made of unrefined Shea butter and natural soy and are mixed with premium botanical & essential oils for lovely fragrances like citrus basil and lavender. This non-greasy bar is the perfect thing for moisturizing your skin… and then let you get back to working with your yarn!

Check out Lavishea’s online store to find your favorite!

I’ve used the Lavishea. My LYS carries it. I recommend it highly. I like the bar form because with the lotion type you can squeeze out too much but with the bar that doesn’t happen.

I’m happy for you Valerie L for being the winner of the unicorn giveaway, may you have lots of fun. I’m also happy for you Carla for being the winner of January photo. And Stacey, your slugs are all so very cute and adorable.
