About FreshStitches

The idea for FreshStitches began in 2008 when crochet designer, Stacey Trock, noticed a distinct lack of patterns for big and cuddly stuffed animals. A handful of adorable designs later- FreshStitches was born! Since then, FreshStitches patterns have become legendary for their cuteness, detailed instructions and step-by-step photos. Purple Stitch Project & Sheep(ish) Yarn Giveaway!

Exciting news! In combination with Craftsy and Vickie Howell, I’ve scored some skeins of Sheep(ish) Yarn to give away! Squee! Keep reading for details on how to enter!

The Purple Stitch Project

Have you heard of the Purple Stitch Project? It’s a great initiative started by Vickie Howell to raise awareness (and bring happiness to) those with Epilepsy (purple is the color for Epilepsy awareness).

Epilepsy affects more than 300,000 children in the US (including Vickie’s son, Tristan), and these children struggle with terrifying seizures and a litany of testing, medication and treatments.

The Purple Stitch Project allows knitters, crocheters and sewers to join together and help in an incredibly personal way. You can make a toy or accessory that will go directly to a child afflicted with Epilepsy… and item which will bring a child comfort during a trying time in their lives.

Make something!

What better way to brighten a child’s spirits, right?

Craftsy and Vickie have teamed up with designers from all across the country to make available a wide range of free patterns that you can make to donate to the cause. Click here for a full listing.

Some of my favorites include:

To donate, make something fabulous in purple, and send it to this address.

Giveaway!

Now that you’re geared up for knitting/crocheting in purple… how about some yarn to do it with?

Thanks to Vickie Howell and Craftsy, I’m giving away 2 skeins of Vickie Howell’s Sheep(ish) yarn to 2 lucky winners!

This is a fabulous yarn… it’s a wool/acrylic blend (nice and soft!) and machine washable. Each skein contains 167 yards, so 2 skeins is enough for some amazing projects!

How to Enter

To enter:

  • Leave a comment on this post telling me what you’d make with this fab yarn! Please be sure to leave an email/Ravelry name so I can contact you!
  • For an additional entry, tweet: “I just entered to win some amazing yarn from @VickieHowell & @beCraftsy with @FreshStitches! You can enter, too: http://bit.ly/MvCRk2”

The 2 winners will be selected Sunday, July 8th at 11am EST via a random number generator.

This giveaway is open to everyone, including international entries!

What are you waiting for?

You can’t win if you don’t enter! Good luck to you!

And I hope you feel inspired to contribute a little handmade item to the Purple Stitch Project!
