About FreshStitches

The idea for FreshStitches began in 2008 when crochet designer, Stacey Trock, noticed a distinct lack of patterns for big and cuddly stuffed animals. A handful of adorable designs later- FreshStitches was born! Since then, FreshStitches patterns have become legendary for their cuteness, detailed instructions and step-by-step photos. Using the abundance of help and information in the patterns, numerous crocheters have crocheted a FreshStitches animal as their first crochet project! ...more

WIP Wednesday: Springtime Different Lines!

My most exciting project for the week is that I’ve started knitting ‘Different Lines’ by Veera! Let me tell you about the other things I’ve been into, then I’ll get to the excitement!

Metalworking

I finished my last metalworking class! This week, I put my new riveting skills to work:

Can you see it? It’s right in front of where my fingers are holding… it blends right in. I’m pretty impressed! On Friday, I’ll show you the two pendants that I finished up.

Dyeing project

While I was down at the Lion Brand Studio Store, I took advantage of their President’s Day Sale (aren’t I lucky my signing was on a sale-holiday?!?) and bought a cone of LB1878:

It’s over 2000 yards of fingering weight yarn! I bought it in the natural colorway… I think I’m going to experiment with a little dyeing!

Different Lines

I love Veera… I’ve knitted 3 of her Stripe Study Shawls and 2 Still Light Tunics, so I’m excited to cast on for Different Lines.

It’s going to be a sample for my yarn store… so I’m using a skein of the AMAZING Kauni that I’ve been staring at:

I’ve matched it with a bright spring green, and I’m knitting! Yes, the Kauni is a little bit scratchy, but it’s not nearly as bad as I thought from how it feels in the skein. Besides, the colors are so great, I think it’s worth it. What do you think?

This pattern is just like all of her other patterns… a totally addictive knit!

That’s what I’ve been up to this week! Have you been up to anything exciting? I hope you have an awesome Wednesday, and get some great knitting/crocheting done this week!

I love that pink and green. You have a wonderful eye for color!

  2. Different lines looks great. I do love those colours – makes me think of hyacinths. If I had that much undyed yarn, I’d dye some for some Fiddlehead mitts!

You’re totally knitting a watermelon! And it looks utterly spectacular! I’ve had my eye on the kauni for a while, so glad to hear that it’s not bad to work with. Love it!

  4. Really striking, and as Paula said, it reminds me of watermelon candy (in a good way).

Hm. WordPress ate my comment, I think!

To recreate: I’m jealous of your cone of dyeable prettiness! I’ve just been doing some tiny-batch dyeing this weekend, so much fun. :)

And your shawl is going to be just beautiful—pink and green together are so springy-amazing, and I really love that pattern.
