Crochet a long Slug amigurumi freshstitches

I know you’ve been gearing up for the next crochet-a-long! This one’s a… slug-a-long!

That’s right! This month, we’re crocheting Hannah the Slug. She’s a great pattern for those of you who have conquered your first amigurumi, and are looking for a fun project where you’ll learn something new, but isn’t too difficult.

Isn’t she cute?

And of course… Hannah looks great in any color. And, since she only uses 35 yards of yarn, this is a great project for using up a little bit of leftover yarn from your stash!

  1. Oh how fun!! I already have this pattern and would really like to crochet her up!!

  2. I wasn’t going to at first, but I think I’m going to budge πŸ˜€
Hannah is definitely the cutest slug I’ve ever seen and the closing date to participate is my birthday! That must be a good sign, don’t you think? Good excuse anyway!
P.S. Don’t we have to post a photo of our finished slug, instead of our finished dragon? πŸ˜›

    • @Iris- Happy to have you along!
And thanks for pointing out the typo… oops! I’ve fixed it πŸ™‚

I just started amigurumi and started with your Howie the Penguin! I am now taking the Woodland Animals course on Craftsy and am loving it. Thank you for helping me get started on something I never thought I could do! (I had never crocheted before!) I have sent the beginner ebook to a few friends. Lucky for me, I got the Cutie Crawlies ebook on your birthday sale so I think it is a sign for me to try my first crochet along! I am excited. Thanks!

I’m In. My slug is going to be with the new yarn my husband got me for Christmas. It’s super soft, I just can’t decide if I should do yellow or green πŸ™‚

Starting now! I wanna make one in each of my peaches n creams or maybe a Rainbow slug x3

  6. Rae SAYS...

@Lucia – the rainbow slug sounds great.
@Stacey – where you tell us to enter to win by posting a photo, you state “of your dragon”, you forgot to change it to slug.
Hannah is so cute. I’m dealing with quite a few other items to crochet, and knit….but maybe I’ll be able to fit Hannah in too. I’ll see. Good luck to everyone, can’t wait to see all the finished slugs.

  10. Ok – I’m a fairly new follower of yours and have only been crocheting for a few months, but am in LOVE. I’ve been thinking about doing this CAL and think I might just buckle down and try this as my first amigurumi. One of my goals this year was to try more complicated crochet patterns and I think this counts! LOL Wish me luck!

    • @Karie- So happy to have you joining us!

Stacey, could you clarify the section on making the foot for me (pg7). The instruction in italics is that a foundation row and then you do round one into that or is it just single crotchet twice into each of the front loops, end of story. As this is only my second amigarumi I am not too confident at reading patterns yet. Thanks

    • @Ruth- Great question! I’ll be doing a blog post with more details on the foot, so keep your eyes peeled!

In short, you’ll be making one round (the foundation round), then single crocheting twice into each of those stitches.
