About FreshStitches

image

The idea for FreshStitches began in 2008 when crochet designer, Stacey Trock, noticed a distinct lack of patterns for big and cuddly stuffed animals. A handful of adorable designs later- FreshStitches was born! Since then, FreshStitches patterns have become legendary for their cuteness, detailed instructions and step-by-step photos. Using the abundance of help and information in the patterns, numerous crocheters have crocheted a FreshStitches animal as their first crochet project! ...more

FO Friday: Wingspan, socks and a ladybug!

Wingspan

I had a very long flight this past week (just to San Francisco, but a giant lightning storm meant that various delays occurred), so I finished my Wingspan before even getting to my destination! I used leftover sock yarn, and I’m very happy with it:

And since it’s pretty lightweight, I can tell I’ll be wearing it through spring!

Graduation Owl

Recently, I’ve been making a lot of owls as orders for baby shower presents in my Etsy Shop, and I started brainstorming about who else might want an owl. Then it hit me: graduates!

So I designed a graduation owl:

It’s my Nelson the Owl pattern (the blue colorway is also available as a kit) with a mortar board hat and a matching tassel!

Socks

I began this pair of socks in the summer of 2009 (yeah… almost 3 years ago!), but got bored with them and let them hibernate. I decided it was time to finish them off:

Hooray! I promise to not take 3 years to finish my next pair of socks!

Ladybug

As you know, I’ve been working on a collection of cutie-crawlies (to add to my slug and snail)… and I came up with a ladybug!

I’ve been wanting to do a ladybug for a while… and finally, the right design came to me! I’m liking this cutie!

Thanks for stopping by and reading! If you want to see more great finished items… make sure to visit Tami’s Amis blog, the organizer of this great FO Friday theme!

I hope you have an awesome and craft-filled weekend!

I, for one, am hoping to get some crocheting and knitting squeezed in!

Your wingspan shawl is gorgeous! Cute critters :)

  2. I’m loving the lady bug! Will you be sharing the pattern some day?

The flight sounds terrible, but it always feels better when you emerge with an amazing knit!

(I’ve been thinking about what you said in your second podcast about calling our FOs “crochets.” Somehow, I’m not sure if it will work.)

  3. I haven’t got travel as a means to complete things and so I envy you! How beautiful the scarf looks and the construction seems like it would keep you engaged. Owl grad is adorable!

  4. Michelle says:

WOW! Your wingspan looks AWESOME! And, it’s such a great idea for using up sock yarn left-overs!

  5. Love your wingspan. I’ve started it twice and didn’t like how the yarn striped. Using left over sock yarn might be a good idea!

  6. i love the shawls you make… i am not a big shawl wearer so i’m always hesitant to start any but i may have to give a few out as gifts this year. (and it’s not that i don’t like people wearing shawls… i just have this weird drapey fabric issue where i hate things hanging on me. i’m weird.)

i think it was such a great idea to do the grad owls… i hope they do really well for you! and the ladybug is SO CUTE!

sorry i haven’t been around on craftsy or commenting in awhile, finally getting caught up post-easter vacay!

  7. Each thing cuter than the next! Graduation owls … YES! And omg I can’t wait to make a dozen ladybugs!

I love the rainbow shawl and the owl is super cute! I lost your blog from my google reader for a month, so I’m glad I found it again!

  9. Sam says:

  10. Kathleen says:

Oh my gosh, that ladybug. I love everything in this post (the amaaaazing rainbow wingspan! the perfect graduation owl!), but that ladybug. Your design skills are a marvel.
