Slip Stitch

The slip stitch (sl st) is a nice, tiny stitch that you’ll want to have in your repertoire. It’s quite dense, so it’s rarely used for entire pieces, but is crucial for shaping and special effects.

Word of warning: American and British crochet terms are different! This video illustrates the American ‘slip stitch’, which is called a ‘single crochet’ in British terminology.
