Have I mentioned that I’m in love with my Facebook fans?
They’re a fabulous bunch, always posting great photos of their FreshStitches creations and often sharing helpful tips.
Most recently, Lucia shared with me an adorable idea: little scarves for your amigurumi! She was sweet enough to share her pattern… the scarf is easy to crochet, and I think you’ll find yourself wanting to make one before Christmas!
Mini-Scarf Pattern
This scarf is super-easy to crochet. I used a size H hook and worsted weight yarn, although you can substitute any hook/yarn combo that works for you.
Chain desired number of stitches. I chained 16 for a cowl-like size, chain more for a longer scarf.
Half Double Crochet in 2nd chain from hook, and each stitch across.
Fasten off. Weave in your ends.
That’s it!
Dress your amigurumi in style!
My little Mal loves his scarf:
Mal is a tiny amigurumi, so a short scarf works for him. For larger amigurumi, you’ll want to begin with a longer chain to get a scarf that’s long enough. No calculation necessary: when chaining, just wrap the chain around the amigurumi’s neck… the finished scarf will be roughly the same size as your starting chain!
Thank you so much, Lucia, for sharing your idea!
Other Christmas accessories
You don’t have to stop with adding a scarf to your amigurumi… you can accessorize in all kinds of ways!
Here are a few more ideas for sprucing up your amis:
- Crochet some holly (I love these ones designed by Lucy of Attic24) and attach to the shoulder or head of you cutie
- Add a sweater to your amigurumi… don’t forget the festive buttons!
- Add a crocheted garland of Christmas lights as a necklace
- Pin one of your favorite holiday pins on your ami! Instant festiveness!
I hope that, if you celebrate Christmas, then your holiday preparations are going according to plan! I still have one more present to make…

Ahhh This is so cute! I so love it!
