Clue 1 has been released! Need help with colors?

I was so excited to release clue 1 of the Archer Mystery CAL that I woke up and posted the clue before I had breakfast! Now that’s enthusiasm!

If you have absolutely no clue what I’m talking about… then you’re missing out! You’ll want to hop on over and read the details on the Archer Mystery Crochet-a-long, and join in!

Choices, choices!

The hardest part about getting started is picking your colors! People in the FreshStitches Ravelry group have been posting their color selections… and they’re wonderful!

Archer is crocheted in ‘crazy colors’ (I didn’t want to give away any hints about what sort of animal he might be!)… so you can let your imagination run wild!

I made a color card with some ideas from the Ravelry group:

Aren’t these great? And don’t you love how you can’t go wrong? Wildly different colors, colors in the same color family, the same color in different shades… every combo works!

Which colors are you going to choose?

Is it too late to join in?

No way! The first clue was released today, so you’re not behind at all! (Well…. except maybe you haven’t been obsessing over your color choices for weeks…)

When you purchase your pattern, you’ll want to download ‘Clue 1’, and get started!

Reminders about how we’ll roll

We want to make sure that the mystery is fun and mysterious for everyone… even if they show up late to the party. To make this happen, there are a couple things to keep in mind.

There will be Two threads for each clue in the Ravelry Group: a ‘questions’ thread and a ‘spoilers’ thread. I encourage everyone to share progress photos of their work, but please post them in the spoilers thread for the appropriate clue. This way, someone can join in late, and read the posts only about the clue that is relevant to the part they’re working on. Mystery saved!

This means that even if you join in next week, you can still download clue 1 and read just the clue 1 threads… and still take part in the mystery!

Helpful Resources

I can’t give any hints about what Archer will turn out to be, but I can point you to some blog posts that’ll help you if you’re new to crocheting amigurumi!

And there’s a prize!

Don’t forget that this is a CAL, so there’s a prize! All you need to do to be entered to win is to submit your finished photo, you’ll be entered to win a prize!

This month, the fabulous prize is a 10-pack of Suncatchers Eyes!

I use Suncatchers Eyes in all of my amigurumi… and I love them! One very lucky duck will get 10 pairs, in their choice of colors!

To enter your photo, post a pic of your finished animal to FreshStitches Ravelry Page (please post in the Spoilers Thread) or Facebook Page by December 16th.

As if you really needed another reason to join in on the fun!

I can’t wait to see your Archer!

You know where you can find me… locked onto the Ravelry Group waiting for progress photos to be uploaded!

eeeeek I still don’t have my yarn, have to pick it up today!!!

  2. Joan says:

The crazy colors all look fun type, this is going to be a joyful Cal. And look at those stunning Suncatcher Craft Eyes, good luck to the lucky duck.

  3. Vicky Rout says:

Just a question. I usually stagger my increases when I am making something round so I don’t have swirl lines in my toys. Is there any spcial counting in the mystery cal that will prevent me using a staggered approach.

I would have asked on Ravelry but struggling to add a discussion.

      Hey Vicky-
That’s a great question! There’s nothing in the mystery CAL that will go wrong if you change up the increases!
To add a discussion, click on the group, then ‘add thread’ if you want to start a new thread… or (since it’s about the CAL), go to that thread and click the button on the bottom right that says ‘reply to thread’.
      I’ll add this info, now!

The shop is on vacation for the summer! Come back in September for a full restock!
