Cast on for first holiday project… and book update!

Okay, first thing’s first… I know you’re dying to see my ‘book progress bar’! (okay, I know that the bar may not be that interesting, but showing you my progress every week keeps me really motivated, so just play along with me…)

Aside from the tasks that are involved with keeping FreshStitches running, I’ve been devoting all of my working time to the book (including weekends, which is very unusual for me!)

I’m particularly proud of the number of ‘completely finished projects’ (shown in blue)… I put them in a special ‘finished’ box, and the box has been filling, much to my satisfaction!

I discovered that I’ll need to ship my box (of finished projects) to the publisher a little earlier than I had expected (since it needs to arrive before the company closes for the holidays), but no worries… I’m feeling quite confident about my progress, now!

Tim always jokes teases me… when July comes around, that means it’s time for me to start making Christmas presents! Well… between the move and the book, I didn’t get my usual head start. In fact, I just started the first present!

Pattern: Infinitude Scarf

Yarn: Louet Gems Worsted, color: Steel Grey

Needles: Hiya Hiya Sharps, size 8, 16″

It’s a cowl for my mom! The pattern is for a long cowl, but I know my mom… she’s a practical sort, and would want it shorter so it’ll tuck into her jacket. I’m making it with machine washable yarn so it’s uber-practical!

I’ll be sharing the rest of my holiday-crafting plans this weekend… so stay tuned!

That’s what I’ve been up to this week… how about you? I hope you have an awesome Wednesday, and get some great knitting/crocheting done this week!

If you want to check out more Work-In-Progress posts, please check out Tami’s Ami’s Blog, who’s been organizing a great WIP Wednesday blog theme! And, don’t forget to come back for FO (Finished Object) Friday!

I’m behind on holiday knitting this year, too. But I’m not making as many gifts (so far) this year, either, so hopefully it will all even out.

Your book manuscript progress bar is fantastic, I think of it as interesting, because you’re creating a unique book filled with joy.

  3. Your mom’s cowl looks great so far. I love those little details (changing the length, picking a certain yarn) that makes the pattern fit the gift recipient.

The shop is on vacation for the summer! Come back in September for a full restock!
