It’s been a very exciting yarn-filled weekend! Here are a few photos from the activities…
On Friday, I went to Stitches East, conveniently located (to me, at least) in Hartford, CT. As with any yarn-related event, there is a certain amount of pressure regarding the donning of knit-wear. I decided to put aside the stress, and wear my usual uniform: a long sleeve t-shirt and pants, and toss on my silk garden clapotis. In retrospect, I should have actually worn a sweater (showy or otherwise)… because it was really cold outside!
Since these yarn-events are very hectic, I’ve learned that it’s always good to take a break when needed. I grabbed a nice column, and took some time to knit my bamboo silk scarf (which has been languishing in the WIP pile for an embarrassingly long time…)

Saturday was Knit New Haven’s first anniversary! The owners planned a party and a sale, and the customers (lead by Gale, below) planned… a yarn bombing!
You can click here to see the full album of the yarn-bombing… so many people contributed such beautiful knitting & crocheting- it turned out to be a beautiful display!
All of the owners were delighted (who doesn’t love being yarn bombed?) and even the passers-by seemed to enjoy the public display of art!

After celebrating the store’s anniversary, Tim and I headed over to Staff Appreciation Day at the Yale Football Game.
As a State-University-girl, I found the dynamics of an Ivy League football game a little startling… you can tell from the photo that the stadium was nearly empty, and the marching band didn’t wear hats!
One of the perks, however, of the low attendance was that I got to go onto the field and meet THE Handsome Dan (Yale mascot). Apparently, as long as you didn’t run onto the field of play and interrupt the game, you could pretty much walk wherever you wanted… wow.
Hope everyone is having a great (yarn-filled, or otherwise) weekend, and a Happy Halloween! I’m going back to my knitting… I want to see if I can actually finish a project!

I am thrilled to see that I am not the only one who knits at the football game. I took so much #rap from my husband when we went to the Packers-49ers game in Green Bay… but the Green Bay fans didn’t really seem to mind.
I just ignore the strange looks… who says you shouldn’t be productive while watching football?
Kevin still complains about the first (and I think only) Yale football game he attended, because everyone was too busy being ironic to really support the team/care about football.
Yeah, that’s pretty accurate!
