It’s FO Friday! How would you like to see the first photos of a new design that’s in the works?
A Collaboration with Abby Glassenberg!
You’ve probably heard me chat about Abby before: she’s an amazing sewing designer (stuffed animals, of course!) and also a buddy of mine.
Well, a while ago, we started talking about doing a design together: a pattern available in both crochet & sewing, with accessories you could mix and match! Isn’t that so fun?
Wanna see my half?
It’s a penguin! (Abby’s is too, of course…)
I snapped this photo outside in the snow yesterday… I don’t even have the ‘official’ photos taken yet, but I wanted to share with you because I’m so excited about this guy!
Pushing the Boundaries
It’s been a fabulous experience designing with Abby… and I’m sure our collaboration will turn blog post later! But, hey, it’s Friday… I can give you a snippet, right?
Since Abby and I were working on designing a very similar animal, we had to work on techniques that would work in both of our crafts. For this penguin, I worked on a new system of increases that would make the color changes appear straight at the sides (instead of biasing) and also work with the color changes for the eyes.
So much fun!
Stay tuned for details on this guy… you’re going to love him!
This week, I finished reading The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun, which was a fabulous book. The author spends a year experimenting with lifestyle changes to improve her happiness. She’s quite funny, and also gets you thinking about little things you can do to improve your daily life!
I also read Situations Matter, just another one of many pop-psychology books I can’t seem to get enough of. This one’s about how context shapes your actions and beliefs. If you like the genre, go for it!
If you want to see more great finished items… make sure to visit Tami’s Amis blog, the organizer of this great FO Friday theme!
I hope you have an awesome and craft-filled weekend!
I’ll be visiting Minneapolis this weekend (we’re house-shopping!), please wish us luck! I think I’ll get some knitting done on the plane!
